How the ILOE scheme works
CategoryPremium · Maximum payout
A: basic salary AED 16,000 or lessAED 5 a month · AED 10,000 a month
B: basic salary above AED 16,000AED 10 a month · AED 20,000 a month
- The payout is 60% of your average basic salary over the last six months, up to the category maximum.
- It is paid for up to 3 months per claim.
- You must have paid premiums for at least 12 months in a row, and claim within 30 days of losing your job.
- It does not pay if you resign or are dismissed for disciplinary reasons.
- Not subscribing brings a fine of AED 400. Premiums are subject to 5% VAT.

Special cases
- Leaving the country or starting a new job stops the payments.
- Your subscription stays with you when you move to a new employer, so you do not need to subscribe again.
- Paying by year instead of by month gives the same cover. Many people pay yearly so they do not miss a month.
- Labour complaint cases: if you were dismissed and filed a complaint, the claim can be delayed until the case is settled.
Common mistakes
- Letting payments lapse. Missing premiums for more than three months cancels the policy and brings a fine.
- Claiming too late. You must claim within 30 days of losing your job, or of a labour complaint being settled.
- Expecting a payout after resigning. ILOE only pays when the job ends involuntarily.
- Using the full salary. Both the category and the payout use the basic salary.
