How overstay fines work in the UAE

Since 2023 the UAE charges one daily rate for overstaying on any visa type: AED 50 for each day after your permitted stay ends. This covers residence, work, visit and tourist visas, and applies after the visa expires or is cancelled.

Grace periods depend on the visa type and why it ended, so check yours with the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP), or with GDRFA for Dubai visas. Fines must be paid before you can leave the country or get a new visa.
