Machine translation is great for understanding messages, letters and notices, but it can make mistakes. For official or legal documents in the UAE, use a legal translator approved by the Ministry of Justice. Your text and files are sent to our server only to be translated, and are not stored.

How to translate your text

  1. Choose the ✍️ Type your text and translate tab at the top.
  2. Type or paste your text in the left box (up to 3,000 characters each time; for longer text, see step 7).
  3. In the first list, leave Detect the language, or choose the language your text is written in.
  4. In the second list, choose the language you want to translate to. The ⇄ button swaps the two.
  5. Tap 🌐 Translate. The translation appears in the right box.
  6. Tap 📋 Copy to copy it, or 🔊 Listen to hear it (if your device has a voice for that language).
  7. Longer text: translate it in parts. Copy the first translation (paste it into your own document), tap ✕ Clear, paste the next part and tap Translate again. There is no limit on how many times you do this.

Questions people ask

Can I translate a scanned PDF or a photo of a letter?

Yes. Choose the document tab and pick the file. If the PDF has real text, we read it directly; if it is a scan or a photo, our AI reads the text from the picture and translates it. Clear, straight photos work best.

Is there a limit on how much I can translate?

Each translation has a size limit: 3,000 characters of typed text, or 10 pages and 20 MB for a document. There is no limit on how many translations you do, so longer texts and documents can be translated in parts, one after the other.

Will the translated document look like the original?

No. You get the translated text, page by page, which you can copy or download for Word. The layout, logos, pictures and stamps are not copied.

Why is there no Listen button for some languages?

Listen uses the voices built into your phone or computer. Phones usually have voices for most languages. Many computers only have English, so for other languages the button is hidden and a short note says so. On Windows you can add voices in Settings → Time & language → Speech → Add voices.

Which languages can I translate?

Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, Dutch, English, Filipino (Tagalog), French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malayalam, Nepali, Pashto, Persian, Polish, Portuguese, Punjabi, Russian, Sinhala, Spanish, Swahili, Swedish, Tamil, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, Urdu and Vietnamese.

Can I use it for official documents?

No. For visas, courts, contracts and other official papers in the UAE you need a certified legal translation by a translator licensed by the Ministry of Justice.

Do you keep what I translate?

No. Your text and files go to our server only to be translated and are not saved.
